MoU Signing between NECBDC and CMTI – A New Chapter for the Bamboo Sector
On 21st May 2025, the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) and the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionize the bamboo processing ecosystem in India, particularly in the North Eastern Region.
This landmark collaboration aims to develop indigenous, fully automated bamboo machinery, such as the Radial Splitter and Parallel Splitter, with a focus on self-reliance, scalability, and enhanced operational efficiency. The partnership will facilitate technology upgradation, R&D, and capacity building—empowering local artisans and enterprises while reducing dependence on imported technologies.
The MoU signing ceremony included a moment of mutual felicitation, where Shri M.C. Omi Ningshen, Managing Director of NECBDC, warmly honored the CMTI delegation, and Dr. Nagahanumaiah, Director of CMTI, graciously reciprocated the gesture in appreciation.
